CUPE 998 congratulates the new board appointed to govern Efficiency Manitoba and looks forward to productive conversations in the future.
“Our members want some certainty about their futures,” said Chris Mravinec, CUPE 998 President. “We hope that this board will be transparent and open about our path forward.”
CUPE 998 will be sending requests to meet the new board of Efficiency Manitoba in the coming days to ensure that affected Manitoba Hydro employees have their voices heard at the table.
“We are ready to sit down and get to work with this new board,” said Mravinec, “we know the board has a lot of work in front of it and we feel we have a role to play. We are here to work on behalf of our members who want to know what their future holds.”
CUPE 998 has helped negotiate workforce transitions in the past, when Centra Gas and Winnipeg Hydro employees were brought in. “We have done this before and have some expertise,” said Mravinec, “and we are ready to get to the table.”
The Canadian Union of Public Employees is Canada’s largest union representing more than 650,000 members. In Manitoba, CUPE represents approximately 26,000 members working in health care facilities, personal care homes, school divisions, municipal services, social services, child care centres, public utilities, libraries and family emergency services.
