An interview with Nima Ebrahimzadeh, 15 years old son of incarcerated worker Behnam Ebrahimzadeh

For everyone who hears my voice, who is compassionate and values humanity I would urge them to do endeavor as much as they can so my father could be next to me and free, because all this stress is really very difficult for me, and I’m too stressed. Just want to have my father next to me.

Question: Dear Nima could you please explain what happened yesterday and why a communique was issued by “Defense Committee for Behnam Ebrahimzadeh” , your father’s defense committee , and describe the entire episode for us.

Nima%20Ebrahimzade

Answer: As all of you are aware since the attack by security forces on ward 350 of Evin prison, my father was put under extreme pressure and sent to solitary confinement for the past few weeks. After weeks without any contact, last week we had a telephone conversation with my father and he said that there was a chance we might be able to visit him in jail. This Saturday they contacted us from jail and said that we could visit him for half an hour at Evin prison’s court. But after our visitation was over they would not let me and my mother leave and forced us to stay in there until three o’clock in the afternoon. Then they appeared with a search warrant. We left the prison with six agents: two agents in a car with us and four other agents in a separate car.

All six were searching our house; one of them was a representative from the judge, the other one was daddy’s interrogator and the other four were inspectors. They also had a camera and filmed the whole house even the bathroom and the storage area. They also took away my personal laptop computer, and all the flash drives.

I wasn’t willing to sign that I had consented to the house search but they forced me to sign it.

Q) You mean you weren’t consenting, but they forced you to sign the form that search was done by your consent?
A) Yes (they forced me to sign a form) that the search was done by my consent and in my presence.

Q) Whereas in reality, you did not consent and did not agree with the search.
A)Yes

Q) Dear Nima how did they treat and approach you and how did they justify filming your house?
A) They had no answer about why they were filming; they just showed the search warrant.

Q) Nima if I’m not mistaken you yourself have an illness and for the past year and a half have been under treatment and receiving chemotherapy, what effects has all of this confrontations has had on your emotional and physical health?
A) Well, what happened was very stressful, and all the doctors have emphasized that I shouldn’t by subject to any stress. I myself was really frightened by the presence of six heavy set men with a camera recording everything. I have just returned from the hospital and wasn’t feeling that well to begin with and because of chemotherapy was feeling like vomiting and nausea.

Q) Exactly how many years has it been that your father has been imprisoned?
A) Since June of 2010, it has been four years.

Q) Since you were eleven years old?
A) Yes.

Q) Nima, many people throughout the world are going to hear your voice, what is your message to them and what would you like them to do?
A) For everyone who hears my voice, who is compassionate and values humanity I would urge them to do endeavor as much as they can so my father could be next to me and free, because all this stress is really very difficult for me, and I’m too stressed. Just want to have my father next to me.

Q) You want them to do what they can to free your father so he could be next to you?
A) Yes, with his presence all these pressures would subside a bit.

Dear Nima thank you very much for giving us this opportunity to talk to you and hope that all the efforts from around the world to free your father would result in bringing him back to you. Would you like to add anything?

No. Thank you very much.
