IUF and Arla Foods agreement on measures to fight sexual harassment

The IUF and the dairy transnational Arla Foods have concluded an agreement on measures to protect workers against sexual harassment in the workplace.
This is the first such agreement with a global dairy company. In 2013, the IUF signed an agreement on combatting sexual harassment with Chiquita, followed by agreements with Unilever, Sodexo, Melia Hotels and AccorInvest.
The Agreement acknowledges sexual harassment as a form of gender-based violence and gender discrimination. It contains a definition and a statement of intent along with principles, procedures and processes for putting an end to sexual harassment in the workplace.
The agreement provides for negotiation between Arla and IUF affiliates for local implementation.
The agreement is available here.
The farmer owned dairy cooperative Arla Foods is based in Denmark and Sweden. It has processing facilities in Northern Europe, North America, West Africa, the Middle East and China.
